Not sure what to say?

While our paths only met once the meeting was memorable and your special gifts were evident. Thanks for leaving us with great reading materials and kind humorous thoughts.

I spent the day with Baxter Black in the fall of 1993. I was on my Vet School externship at a practice in Ft Lupton, CO. He invited me to spend the day with him talking about horses. He gave me a book, "Croutons on a cow pie" and signed it. When I saw him at a Veterinary conference in Columbus OH and at a speaking event at the Eiteljorg in Indianapolis, he still remembered me. Dr Darcy from Indiana.

Mr. Baxter Black Jose class that I went to his house and worked on his horses teeth. I was proud to call him a friend he always was very gracious to me and always with a joke he made me laugh God bless his soul and God bless his family

Saw him twice. Incredible experience. Just some tales that were present and spiritual, affirming and engendering, earthly dignifying, and without a whiff of pretentiousness. He left us to simply marvel and experience it all as a gift. He crafted for the soul. If I had to guess he chose the boots he wanted to fill, and in my opinion he displayed that he picked the perfect fit.

My husband, Dr Henderson, was fortunate to be in Dr. Baxter’s Veterinary Class.

He and his wife, Cindy would help and arrange all the Class Reunions.
Cindy brought her fiddle, and Baxter would sing and say poetic funny remembrances .
We would sit around the Campfire and enjoy each other’s company!

Oh, and he cut Bill’s hair too!! Lol and RIP !
Judy Henderson

His poetry was listed by many of my cowgirls cowboys I saw him Johnny Carson. Have many of his poems

Baxter was a wonderful man who made all of us feel special. May your pleasant memories of him bring comfort to you as time moves on.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Mr Black was my husband's favorite poet. He made him smile and laugh. Picked him up when times were rough. Wish we had the chance to meet him in person but we feel we already have through his many talents. Keeping your family in our prayers. The Bundtrock family in Oklahoma.

I, like so many others will always treasure the wonderful memories and friendship we shared. When I first released an album I wrote and produced called 'The American Cowboy' Baxter bought a whole case of them and gave them to people who he thought would enjoy them and also might be helpful to me. He wrote a beautiful blurb for the book I wrote about Rodeo legend Casey Tibbs called 'Casey Tibbs Born to Ride' His generosity toward me and other entertainers was exceptional He also gave me...
