Not sure what to say?

Born just twenty days apart, we were lifelong friends. With his unfailing wit, Baxter always teased me about being the older. And that's part of the joy of having a lifelong friend! He was the one who kept all of us together, even when we scattered across the nation; he was the one who reminded us of birthdays, of passings, of good things and bad that made our lives in a small town. He is the one for whom we grieve, even as we smile as we think of him.
Dear friend, may I always face...

I was so fortunate to have known my friend, Baxter Key. for 70 + years. In all the years I knew Baxter, I never heard him talk bad about anyone. He was an extremely positive person and always saw the good in his felliow man. Baxter loved playing jokes, especially on his sister, Lois. I picture Baxter in heaven telling jokes and stories to everyone and making them laugh. Rest In Peace, my friend, Baxter.

Baxter was my lifelong friend and across the street neighbor on Jackson Avenue. I always admired his hard work and achievements in becoming an attorney and a district attorney in Carthage. He always had a positive attitude and a kind word for all who loved him. We enjoyed including him in our 1951 class reunions even though he was not in our class! He loved visiting with old friends and we all loved him! Baxter was a good man and will be greatly missed.

My brother was the most optomistic human being I have ever known. Throughout the "political turmoil" and the bad press that he received, he never spoke
in an unkind tone about anyone involved.
Many thanks to the kind people in Celina Tennessee that made his last days so enjoyable.

We were friends for 74 years. His loyalty, his dogged optimism, and his generosity of both spirit and deed, place Baxter Key atop any list of positive human qualities. His own dark times, he relegated to a secondary position. His encouragement to others came first... along with a few good laughs. And, laughter is always an excellent balm. Truly, a friend to all.
