Bea Cleveland

Bea was an inspiration. I have known who she was since a young child as my dad, (Francis Hart) was an IFYE under tutelage. I was also an IFYE and met one of her friends in the Netherlands on my travels. My prayers are with her family at this time.

What an inspiration to 4-H Youth Development professionals!! The impact you had on young people and adult volunteers continues to be felt years and years after your interaction with them. What a role model you have been for me since I began my work as a 4-H agent in Madison County just before you retired. Thank you for ALL you did for youth, 4-H professionals, for the Ohio 4-H program, and for the Ohio 4-H Center!!! May your memory be eternal! Niki Nestor McNeely, Mason, Ohio

Bea was my mother's Home Economics teacher at Walnut. My mother talked of Bea not being much older than the students in the class and what a great teacher she was. Several years ago we visited Bea at Westminster-Thurber Village. She shared memories of her time as a teacher and we shared 4-H memories of summer camps and participating in 4-H activities at the Pickaway County Fair. She was a remarkable woman and I was honored to have met her.

In 1964 Bea was my first boss. Those 7 yrs. in the 4-H office were fun, full filling, and a friendship made for the rest of our lives. All of her words of wisdom and guidance were greatly appreciated, not only by me, but everyone she knew...she was a people "magnet". I love you Bea and thanks for your friendship and all our good times.

Bea, you were my first mentor and certainly the most impactful. We all knew we could count on candid advice and unconditional love and support from you. I will miss you.

Like so many, I will miss Bea as a lifelong mentor. With her deep commitment to IFFE I'm sure she would have been happy to know I was in India the day she died. Her spirit will live on.
