This picture of BSB/ Betsy/Miss Bartlett is better by far than the one in the obituary. This is what she looked like in the 1960s when she was teaching history (of India, of the U.S., of much more) at The Brearley School in New York. There will be an obituary of BSB in the Fall issue of The Brearley Bulletin. I was one of her many admiring and devoted students.

Beatrice (Betsy) Bartlett was my favorite Professor at Yale. She taught the only seminar in the world that focused on Taiwan history, back in the early 1990's. Although I was not a history major (biology), I made every effort to be permitted to take her class. It was the best seminar and course I had during my undergraduate years at Yale. Thank you Professor Bartlett. You will be greatly missed.

Although my memories date from the 60s I remember Betsy very well. She took up the study of Chinese history at a more advanced age and made a great contribution. She will be missed

I first met Betsy when she came to Delhi many decades ago. She also visited us in Sedona, Arizona and we stayed at her home in Maine. What a beautiful mind she had. I will always cherish my memories of Betsy.
