Beatrice Goines Brooks

Mrs. Beatrice Goines Brooks "Bea", 91, departed this life on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 2:25 p.m. at Envoy Nursing Home in Staunton, Virginia.

She was born in Albemarle County on May 1, 1919, the daughter of the late Lottie Goines. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Brooks; three sons, Sidney Brooks, Bobby Brooks, and Jerry Brooks; two brothers, Roosevelt Barbour and Joe Barbour; and two sisters, Christine Brooks and Mary Barbour.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Brooks and Milton Brooks and his wife, Gwendolyn; one daughter, Evelyn Walker and her husband, Joseph; one sister, Susan Nicholas; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, twenty-one great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Beulah Baptist Church in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, conducted by the Reverend Michael Turner and assisted by the Reverend Beulah Spellman. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the residence of the Reverend and Mrs. Joseph Walker, 920 Winchester Road in Waynesboro.

Lewis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
