Beattie and I shared many lifetimes of good experiences in 40+ years of friendship. I treasure them all. The community will always remember Beattie as a first rate defender, which is appropriate. But to me, and a handful of fellows who knew him best, we will always miss him as our friend. My sympathies are with the entire family. Billy Lide
