I met Becky 28 years ago as a new teacher at Cowart Elementary School. She was kind enough to let me ride with her to work with her because I didn't have a car at the time. She and I carpooled together for a few years. She was a teacher that I learned a lot from because I was the new kid on the block. She was a teacher that expected nothing but the best from her students. I can hear her say Edwina as only she could say it... I am leaving at 3:45.... 3:45 and we all knew what that meant. She...

I remember Ms. Beard well. She was a great math teacher. I wish I would have had more teachers like her. I'm very thankful that I had the opportunity to be in her class. Although I haven't seen her since 1978 she is still remembered!

Becky was one of a kind. I met her when I started teaching at Cowart 28 years ago. She was my car pool partner for a few years. I can hear her sayong Edwina as only she could say it... I am leaving at 3:45.... and we would be on our way down Hampton to Fort Worth Avenue toward the Toll Road.... She was an excellent teacher that demanded the best from her students. She was a genuine friend that would be there no matter what. I am going to miss you Becky!!!

I had Becky Beard for my 6th grade math teacher. She was hard on me but I respected her like no other. I am 45 now and I think back to how she was and I am so grateful that she taught me the way she did. I am so sorry that the world has lost such a beautiful person.

Becky will be remembered fondly as a colleague,a mentor, a friend, and as dedicated teacher at Cowart Elementary School. She was nomininated many times for teacher of the year over the course of her career in Dallas ISD and deservedly so. She expected only the best from her students and got it. She was able to get math concepts through to even the most reluctant learners. We will truly miss Becky and express our condolences to you Roy and all of your family.
