Not sure what to say?

I graduated from the University of South Carolina with Belle. She was a dear friend then, and I wish I had kept the friendship more alive. It is still alive in my heart. I just found this obituary today (December, 2020); but still I wanted to say how much I loved her. Deepest sympathies to all the family.

Dear Lil Belle and Family - I'm saddened to learn (belatedly) of Belle's death! It's been years, but I worked with Belle in Huffman (in the late 70's?) when she and I both worked with Atty. J. Amari! Belle was an amazing person, a brilliant lawyer, and she had a way of making the world a better place. Blessings to you and the family.

Belle and I were friends as we both attended graduated from Cumberland School of Law together in 1978. In those days very few women were allowed to go to Law School and I believe there were only 11 women in our whole class! Belle always worked very hard and was a true pioneer. She was a role model for all of the women in our class and we looked up to her for her honesty, hard work, wit , wonderful kindness, laugh and smile. I am very sad at her passing and hope her daughter appreciates...

To Lil Belle and all her family, I'm truly sadden to hear of my dear friend Belle's death. I couldn't be any sadder if she was a member of my own family. She was family to me, even though we didn't see or talk very often we always felt as though we talked everyday without missing a beat. We all are sending our deepest sympathy. My heart is breaking for you Lil Belle and the boys which she loved very dearly. I pray God will strengthen her family in this time sadness. Her memories will live on...

Belle and I have been friends since we were children. On many occasions she would prod me with the saying, "No guts, no glory." I cannot count the number of times her voice in my head encouraged me to take professional and personal chances. Even though we did not see each other that often, her death leaves a huge hole in my life. I will miss her

These few words are insufficient to convey the loss that Nancy and I feel as a result of Belle's departure. We enjoyed her friendship and presence. Belle contributed so very significantly to the many law students that her competence and commitment touched. The law faculty at Samford University was truly more pleasant with Belle as a colleague. Our condolences and best wishes to young Belle and her wonderful family. Nancy R. and Charles D.(Bo) Cole

Belle was a good friend in Birmingham. I saw her to have a short visit when eating in the Faculty Dining Room at Samford

My condolences to the family. May the wonderful memories of your loved one comfort you until God's promises are fulfilled. Matthew 5:5

Professor Stoddard was an institution in her own right at Cumberland School of Law. She left a legacy with too many students to count. Her recent retirement left me feeling that the school was losing a valuable member, not only for her teaching but because she brightened the place with her personality outside of class as well. This news broke my heart, however, because more than simply a professor, she was a friend. She always made time to meet on my periodic visits. She was very proud of...
