BEN D. CONGER
CORAL SPRINGS, FLA.
Ben D. Conger, was born during a blizzard on Jan. 22, 1935 in Albert Lea, Minn. to Marjorie Davis and Ben Forest Conger. He entered high school in NY, graduating from White Plains High School in 1953. After enlisting in the Army, he attended leadership school at Fort Gordon, Ga., graduating with honors. He was later assigned to Fort Monmouth, where he taught microwave technology. Ben married his high school sweetheart, Barbara New in 1955. He attended Monmouth College/University, earning both BS degrees in physics/engineering and a Masters in Business. While in West Long Branch, Ben served on the town's Planning Board and standards committee for SCI. During his 27 year career with Electronic Associates (EAI), he earned five patents and developed safety assessment software for nuclear power systems. Concurrently, he co-founded Nova and consulted for nuclear power plants, developing software programs under his own company, Systems Integration. Following his tenure with EAI, he moved to Maryland, employed by Texas Instruments. After eight years at TI, he relocated to Bellvue, Wash. as VP of ESCA Corporation. He attended McGill University obtaining certification in ISO 9000. Following ESCA's purchase by Cegelec, Ben and Barb moved to Coral Springs, Fla., where Ben continued consulting for Cegelec as QIP President. He later joined Citicorp as Assistant VP of software security systems for the Latin American Banking Division, receiving the Doors Master Award. Ben enjoyed sailing, spending time with family, model trains and eating!
He is survived Barbara, his wife of 55 years; sons, Ken (Carole) and Brian; daughter, Bressia (Fred); brother, Bruce; and grandsons, CJ and Will.
