Not sure what to say?

Judge Ellis was a good friend and an excellent jurist. He brought out the best in the advocates who appeared in his court. He was firm but fair to all. May our Heavenly Father ease your grief and leave only the cherished memories of his loving ways. And may the angels lead him into paradise. Your Friends, Larry & Mary Ackels and the Ackels Family.

As a young ADA I was assigned to Judge Ellis' Court, I actually enjoyed his gruff manner. I learned a great deal in his court and always appreciated the opportunity to serve in his court.

Judge Bobby Francis

I tried my first Motion to Suppress in front of Judge Ellis when I was a 3L in the SMU Criminal Clinic. I was so nervous AND had another mentor, Mike McCollum, furiously whispering proposed questions in my ear.

During argument, I got so flustered that I said the evidence in question was poisonous fruit from the tainted tree. Judge Ellis stopped me mid-argument. Counsel, WHAT did you say? Then he leaned back in his chair and started laughing. I thought I would faint dead away. ...

I will never forget Judge Ellis, a legend at the courthouse. Prayers for the family.

My heartfelt sympathy go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death.

Sorry for your loss. May God give your family peace and comfort during this difficult time. John 6:40

Wonderful Judge Ellis, trainer extraordinaire of many, many baby prosecutors. So many great stories with accompanying accents. It's been a great ride, Judge!

I'm so sorry for your loss, please accept my sincerest condolences. May God comfort your hearts during this difficult time.
