Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Ben Scheller, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

Loving husband and best friend of Terry Scheller. Dear father of Kristin Scheller and Alexa Scheller. Proud grandfather of Mack Scheller. Dearest brother of Truman (Jill) Scheller and Stu (Cathy) Scheller. Dear uncle Buck to many nieces and nephews. Dear brother-in-law, cousin and friend of many.

Ben was deeply devoted to his wife, children and grandchild and put family above all else. He loved his job and loved the people with whom he worked. Ben volunteered in the Cancer Ward at St. Louis Children's hospital for many years, supporting and caring for kids undergoing treatment. He was a passionate sports fanatic, especially when it came to the St. Louis Blues. At the age of 70, Ben decided to have the Blues note tattooed on his arm to show his support of his favorite team. He considered himself a "Gym Rat" and was proud of the fact that he was able to dead lift over 400 lbs.

In the words of an old friend, "Ben is one of the special people in the world. His spirit, humor, loyalty, friendship is one of a kind that others do not have. We may pass from this world but people like Ben will be missed but not forgotten by those of us who know and love him."

Services: Visitation will be held at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life and luncheon in the Schrader Family Center from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Louis Children's Cancer Center. Friends may sign the family’s on-line guestbook at Schrader.com. Blues attire is encouraged!

Not sure what to say?

Ben was my best friend in High School. He was always a bright light-happy,fun,always positive. We had many adventures together and always laughed and had fun through every adventure. He will always be one of my best friends, and I will miss him every day.

Ben was such a kind man. He became friends with my older brother in high school. He was always upbeat and fun to have around our family home. I am so glad Terry
(Kane) and Ben had such great times together in their youth and in more recent years. I am so sorry for your loss, Terry . I will keep you in my prayers in the days ahead.

Thinking of you Aunt Terry, I have nothing but happy memories of you and uncle Ben. Wishing you peace and comfort-

Ben was a great person, always wearing a smile on his face and maintaining a positive attitude. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Ben was a fantastic leader and a fun person to be around. I will always cherish the memories of working with him and having fun with him while playing ping pong. Miss you Ben.

Ben was as real as they come. He was honest, hard working and lived life to the fullest. I was lucky to have Ben as a customer for over 10 years. It never felt like work talking with him. It was a true friendship and I always walked away with a smile, a new story and a laugh. He loved his wife and family to the fullest. He loved his job and the people around him. You were one of a kind Ben and my thoughts and prayers are with you Terry as you continue the memory of your beloved...

Ben was one of the most optimistic people I have ever met in my life. It was a joy working with him and talking hockey. He just made you feel good about yourself with his beaming personality. He will be forever missed but may his memory live on forever.

Great manager and friend!

Ben was a great human being and will be missed.
