Read MoreI worked with Ben at IRI and he was a fantastic mentor to me. He was the most easy going and happy guy, I really looked up to Ben in those days, he was a true friend. I have very fond memories of him that I will cherish. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Ben's passing. I worked with him for several years at IRI. He was always a great mentor and took the time to teach with passion. We'd sometimes talk about swimming (I used to be an avid swimmer myself) and he would encourage me to continue to beat my best times. When we first met, I would call him Mr. Swiggett out of respect - until he told me to stop and just call him Ben. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I met Ben in Shanghai when he introduced himself at the end of one long and hot cycle ride.
We had a small but regular group of expat riders who would venture out on to the streets through evolving suburbs, construction and a mix of either perfect smooth or bad potholed roads.
Ben joined us and in a short time he would ride with us and then continue, going on to double our distance and explore new routes. He always contributed and was a perfect companion.
