BEN TONGUE

Ben offered me a position in BT in 1962, having applied for a job there when I was 26 years of age. I had no engineering education, only many years of experience with audio and RF circuitry as a hobby since I was twelve.

Based on the results of an entrance exam that I was given, Ben hired me on the spot as an RF design engineer reporting directly to him. I never forgot this lovely man who's intelligence contributed greatly to my future. Rest in peace, Ben.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I worked directly with him on my first job from 1958 to 1967 and he taught me all I know about RF circuit design. He was a real genious in that field.

My sincere condolences to the family and many friends of Ben. He was an avid member and mentor of several groups of crystal radio enthusiasts. He was very generous with his time and sharing of resources with his fellow enthusiasts. He was highly regarded and stood out from the crowd with his engineering skills and methodology. Hands on engineers like Ben are few and far between. His contribution to the crystal radio hobby will be
a long standing legacy for generations to...

I am sorry to hear that Mr. Tongue passed away. I worked at B-T '79-86 and thought he was an amazing man. My condolences to the entire family and to those who knew him. We have lost a great person.
