Not sure what to say?

Dear Toni, Charlie, Jane, Nancy and entire Yedlin family: Dan and I were deeply saddened to learn of Ben's passing. Over the past 9 years we've come to know him well, working together on the Buzzer projects. We have enjoyed immensely the collaboration and excitement of the work. Most of all, we have enjoyed the friendship of Ben and Toni. Ben's dedication to telling the story of the Buzzer and honoring his fellow heroes was truly touching and admirable. Our lives were greatly enriched by the...

Dear Toni,

Although we have known you for fifty years and Ben for five, we think of you together. When we first met Ben, it was to go to the theater in New York City. We liked him immediately, and grew to appreciate him more and more. His lively intellectual interests, his enduring concern for his fellow men in wartime, his open mind and his warm humanity endeared him to us. We will miss him.

Dear Charlie and Family,
We want to express our heart felt sympathy for all of you at this difficult and sad time. Your Father left the kind of legacy that most people only dream of. He obviously touched the lives of many. May you find peace in your memories, and happiness in your hearts. Many blessings.

Dear Toni and family,
The first time I heard Ben’s voice was when he called me and asked whether I was frank Suarez Sr. and whether I had a brother named Manuel who had been in the Army Air Corp. I answered “yes, but that was a long time ago – over 50 years ago”. Ben said “ yes I know” and that he was researching and writing a story of the tragic loss of the “Buzzer”, B-24 Liberator Bomber and its crew and passengers, during World War II. My brother Manuel was the flight engineer on...

Dear Jane, Nancy & Charles. We are sadden by the death of your father and our brother-in-law. He was always generous to us and we are remembering all the good times that we shared together in Metuchen. We love you all. Lila & Ben

Dear Nancy & family,
Although I never had the privilege of meeting your father, he obviously was a very unique and caring individual. I am sure you will sorely miss him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you through these difficult times.
Sincerely,

Dear Toni,
My deepest sympathy to you and all who counted Ben as part of their heart. He was an extraordinary human being and the world is greatly diminished by his loss. He made a gigantic difference in my life through his friendship and his love for my father, Dr. Leslie Caplan, flight surgeon for the 449th Bomb Group. Ben was generous, kind, brilliant, with a heart of gold – a real mensch and they just don’t come better! It was a blessing to know him and I will always cherish his...

Dear Toni,
Words have no power to comfort your sadness. But the intensity of Ben's life - family (a wonderful family), career and so many humanitarian projects -remains astonishing. Ben is the moral conscience of humanity. He never compromises, he remains resposible to his projects. The restless explorer no longer participates in this contemporary world battles. Ben has another project.

Jane,

What an incredible father and a real hero and active citizen...my thoughts and prayers are with you...he will be with you always.
