Dearest Barb and Anthony, I am thinking of you both, and of your father, Walter. I never met your mom Anthony, but I see from the picture you have a resembalence to her. This is a huge loss, and I will be thinking of all of you during the months to come. I am confident that your mother was enveloped in the love and attention of her family during the last days, and that at least, must have been a great comfort. I send my love,

Your mother treated me like I was one of her own. If I said that I was singing somewhere your Mom and Dad would be in the audience. I always felt so much love and support from them.
I will miss your Mom, she was one of the kindest and most truly gentle people that I have ever known.

I remember sitting outside at St. Anthony Main with Bennie and others, listening to Anthony's wonderful jazz. I met Bennie a few times, mostly through Barbara, and know what a gracious, smart and kind woman she was. I ache for all of you as you begin to deal with the loss of her presence in your lives. She is released from her pain, and she knew so well how much you all - Walter, Barbara, Anthony - loved her. Hold those memories close, and hold one another even closer.
