Not sure what to say?

I was a platoon mate of Ben's at The Basic School in 2002. Didnt know him well as he was in a different squad, but remember him as a great guy and fun to be around. Learned of his passing after going thru our Charlie Company cruise book and googling some of my buddies' names to see what they were up to. Shocked and saddened to say the least. Condolences to his family. Semper Fi, Ben.

Condolences to his family and his friends

We have fond memories of Ben playing football with our older son Jimmy and my being involved with coaching him on the Chiefs! Our thoughts are with you guys! Love Jim & Inga Lambert

To the Ackison family I offer my deepest condolences on the loss of your wonderful son Ben. I had the pleasure of meeting Ben when I started my new role as EEO Specialist at MCIEAST. He was an environmental lawyer doing CPL law and he was one of the Agency Reps. From the moment I met him in his Hey Dudes, Cargo shorts, and Bermuda shirt I knew this guy was different and I liked him. He always to the time to explain things to me from a legal perspective then would break it down Ben style. As a...

Trying to capture Ben in a story or two is impossible. This obituary does a damn fine job...but still a Herculean task to nail the essence of Ben with words alone. To really capture the genius of Ben - his ethos - you need to feel his presence, hear his voice, and experience his love of people and food and spirits. When someone we love passes away it´s common to say something like "they were one of a kind" - but in Ben´s case, it´s absolutely true. What a special blessing - privilege, really...

Ben and I were waiters together at Steinhilbers in Va. Beach when he was in law school. I helped in on several papers he had to write there. We also used to go to my school´s gym on occasional Sundays to play basketball. Ben managed some surfwear shops and would always let me in the day before sales to outfit my kids. I lost touch with him when he joined the Marines but never forgot him. Ben was a fine, fine person and I wanted to add my sympathies to the family.

Ben was the best friend to everyone. It didn´t matter time of day, he was always available. Whether a week or several years passed by, the conversation picked right up to the last. Ben truly was the best of the best!! Thank you to the Ackinson´s for sharing this amazing son and brother to us. He´s one nobody will ever forget! God Bless Ben!!!

Felicia, I'm so sorry to learn of the passing of your brother. I remember your stories about him and how proud you were of him. Wishing you many sweet memories. Anita
