Benjamin Clyde Barden – 73 Of Valdosta passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 in Heritage House Nursing Home. He was born on February 10, 1938 in Dixie, GA to the late James Washington, Jr. and Lena Mae (Scales) Barden. Mr. Barden served in the United States Navy. He retired from the Valdosta Police Department after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia. Mr. Barden is survived by his, Wife of 42 years, Susan Annette Barden, Valdosta, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law, Teresa & David Jones, Panama City Beach, FL Kim & Mitch Smith, Tifton, GA; 5 Grandchildren, Ashleigh & Matt Cave, Anna & Adam Jones, Natalie Jones, Zachary Jones; Brother, Clarence Edward Barden Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 16, 2011 in Gateway Baptist Church with burial to follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Dixie, GA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the funeral home.
