BENJAMIN LEWIS DANIELS OF 2436 MAY DRIVE, WINTERVILLE, N.C., PASSED AWAY INTO HIS ETERNAL LIFE ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2023. HE WAS A LOVING AND GENTLE FATHER, SON, BROTHER, NEPHEW, COUSIN, AND FRIEND TO MANY.


HE WAS BORN ON NOVEMBER 5, 1961, TO EDGAR LEE DANIELS AND MARY LEE DANIELS, IN GREENVILLE, NC. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FATHER, EDGAR. BEN GREW UP IN PITT COUNTY AND ATTENDED THE LOCAL COMMUNITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS.


UPON GRADUATING FROM DH CONLEY HIGH SCHOOL IN 1981, BEN ENTERED THE WORKFORCE, AT A YOUNG AGE, HE DISCOVERED AN APPRECIATION FOR COOKING AND WORKED TIRELESSLY FOR OVER 44 YEARS AS A MASTERFUL LEAD COOK FOR DIXIE QUEEN SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IN WINTERVILLE, NC.


AS A SUPERIOR AND LONGSTANDING EMPLOYEE, BEN WAS A STAPLE OF THE RESTAURANT'S SUCCESSFUL PRESENCE IN THE COMMUNITY. HE LED WITH HEART, PASSION, AND CARE WHILE ENSURING THE SEAFOOD WAS COOKED TO PERFECTION AND PRESENTED WELL TO THE CUSTOMERS.


HIS COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION WERE ABOVE EXPECTATIONS, AND HIS WORK ETHIC WON HIM NUMEROUS RECOGNITIONS AND HONORS. BEN ALSO TRAINED AND SUPERVISED OTHER COOKS WHILE WORKING ALONGSIDE RONNIE HINES. AND DEVELOPED LONG-LASTING FRIENDSHIPS WITH COUNTLESS STAFF, MANAGERS, PATRONS, AND FAMILIES.


IN 1996, BEN MARRIED SHONDELL FARMER OF GREENVILLE, NC. ONE CHILD WAS BORN TO THEIR UNION. IN 2003, BEN MARRIED DORIS CHAPMAN, AND HE BECAME A STEPFATHER BEN AND DORIS HELD A SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP UNTIL HIS DEATH.


BEN IS SURVIVED BY HIS DAUGHTER, BRIA C. DANIELS OF GREENVILLE; ONE STEPSON, REGGIE CHAPMAN OF GREENVILLE; MOTHER, MARY L. HYMAN DANIELS OF WINTERVILLE; ONE SISTER, DEBORA L. DANIELS OF GREENVILLE; TWO NEPHEWS, VONDERRICK PARKER AND ZAYDEN PARKER OF GREENVILLE; TWO GREAT-NEPHEWS, MARQUELL PAGE AND ZAYDEN PARKER OF GREENVILLE; ONE GREAT NIECE, UNIQUE L. PARKER OF GREENVILLE; ONE AUNT, SHIRLEY A DANIELS OF WINTERVILLE; AND A HOST OF DEAR COUSINS, OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. BEN HAD A DEVOTED, FRIEND, AND CAREGIVER, TERRENCE DANIELS OF GREENVILLE.

Truly sad to hear of your passing. Always was a Gentle Giant!! Rest well Ben. I ♥ pray we see each other in the morning!!

Mary and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Ben was a hard working man who loved his family and especially his Mama. We will miss Ben in the Winterville/Pitt County areas. My prayers are with you at this time. Trust our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He will carry you through!

To Aunt Mary & family, I was sadden to hear that Ben transitioned., please know that my thoughts & prayers are with you at this time. “ God in his Infinite Wisdom saw Bens struggles and called him home to rest in his Loving Arms, I pray that you will find comfort in knowing that Ben is free now! No more sickness or pain.
