Not sure what to say?

My goodness, I had not heard this and it greatly saddens me. My prayers to his family. Dr. Wilson was one of my professors at WMU in the early 1980's. As a non-traditional student (I was 26 when I started college) he made me feel right at home. He also pushed me to do exemplary work. I still talk about the 369th Infantry in my U.S. History classes. RIP

I just learned today that Dr. Wilson passed away recently. He was my professor for several classes when I was an undergraduate student at WMU in the 1980´s. I learned some much from Ben and considered him as a friend and my mentor as well. May God comfort the family at this difficult time, and know that he is now with Lord. Kenny Martin

Ben, I´ll miss you.

Underground Railroad Society of Cass County (MI) chronicles the story of UGRR and its legacy in Cass County, and Ben is important to our story. His PhD disseration at MSU in early 1970's centered on Free Black community in Calvin Township created in mid 1840's and early 1850's. His research and interviews of descendents is invaluable. Many articles over the years added to our knowledge. We have Ben's disseration and articles in our library in the Bonine House in Vandalia, MI and his...

Your father was a very special person, truly one-of-a-kind, and the best neighbor anyone could hope to have. We will miss him greatly, and will always think of him when looking out to our backyards.

I first met Ben in 1975 when he came to WMU. I Worked on the dock as a delivery truck driver. Moved him into his office and he found out my father attended WMU he researched him and always called me Mr Boards. We would have conversations about what my father accomplish at WMU and life. We also were Mason's had one of the biggest classes to cross to 32 degree. He was diffently a girl dad he loved his girl's. He will truly be missed life well lived. Dallas Boards rest easy

I will miss the barbecues and card playing at your house. RIP my friend.

From hanging out and lifting weights in the fitness center at the old Read Fieldhouse, to having a serious conversation on the issues of the day are the wonderful things I remember about Ben. He would go to bat for you and always had your back. One of the greatest and most influential men I have ever known and had the pleasure of calling my good friend.

I met Ben at the gym in the old WMU Fieldhouse. I have very fond memories of working out with him and our conversations. He is a great man and made a lasting impression on me. We were all blessed with his time here on Earth.
