I worked with Ben in the 1980s on his scanning microscope project. We had daily telephone calls and faxed sketches back and forth for weeks developing the scanning and photo multiplier electronics for the unit. When my electronics was ready for a breadboard prototype unit I flew to Raliegh to complete the package. When I got off the plane My eyes focused on a smiling face staring right at me. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ben´s death. May God´s love and peace surround you.

Oh, Martha. I'm stunned beyond belief to hear this and wish I could be with you. He will certainly be missed by so many--he lit up so many lives everywhere he went. Much love, and hugs from New Zealand.

It was an honor working with Ben. He was the epitome of integrity as well as always full of humor. One of a kind.

We will all miss him, he leaves big shoes to fill plus a warm welcome to everyone he met.
