I grieve to learn of Ben's passing and send my deepest sympathy for your loss. As my (top) student in chemistry, Ben was always thirsty for knowledge beyond the course material, and we would laugh together that in chemistry, the slightly dangerous things were often the most interesting. We had many conversations both in class and out that ranged from chemistry to beyond, from the practical to the fanciful or wherever his mind would leap. I will light our fireworks with Ben in my heart.

I am so sorry to hear about Ben's passing. We met last semester at UMBC in math classes. He was so funny, smart, and thoughtful. He will be missed dearly in our community.
