Not sure what to say?

To The Pollock Family,
I am very saddened to hear of the loss of your father. He was a great man and will be forever missed.
I remember him teaching me to ride my bike down that hill in front of his house, which at the time seemed like a mountain. I had fallen a couple times and noticed Big Ben didn't come running over to coddle me. He instead walked over helped me walk my bike back to the top of the hill and made me try again. I obviously wasn't going to get out of doing this...

I grew up considering Groovy Gramps my Grandfather, as did many others, and have great memories of when I stayed a few weeks each summer with him and Grandma. We'll always be greatful for the wonderful life he provided for my dad's mother, and his willingness to accept all of us into his family.

As my parents point out below, he was one of the greatest from the greatest generation, and myself and my children will miss him, his stories and his laugh very much.

We are so sorry for your loss. Ben has always been a good friend and neighbor and his laughter and smile will be sadly missed by the VonBenken family. It is on their behalf that we send this message to you and your family.

Dear Lynea, Randy, Kerry and families:
We loved your dad very much and will miss his visits to Florida. He always treated us like family and never forgot us at Christmas, which touched us more than you can ever know. They really don't make men like Ben anymore: brave, tough, gentlemanly, smart and capable. He truly was a member of the greatest generation.
Love,
Bob and Kitty

Dear Ben, I'm so surprised and sad to just read your name and see your picture. I haven't seen you in a little while, but I'll always remember you as such a great, funny, kind man, a wonderful father, grandfather, and a good friend to our family. You were a joy to talk to, and you had a wonderful sense of humor!! Now you will be with Lauris, Shane, my mom, Rita Ann, Patty, Raymond, and you'll all be having a good old time together up in heaven. Love to you Ben, Randy, Kerry, and Lynea.

I am so sorry to hear about "Big Ben". When we were younger we used to call him "Groovey Gramps" as if he was our real Grandfather. Big Ben and Big Mama were both always positive influence in our lives. I remember many many years ago when Big Mama was alive My Mom and us three kids going to their house on Walters Grove for Thanksgiving dinner and having such a great time. I remember this one year my brother Scott making this pilgrim hat at preschool and Big Ben wearing it the entire dinner....
