Dr. Benjamin F. Rush Jr.

Dr. Rush was a GREAT man, teacher, mentor and friend. My story is unique because Dr. Rush was truly the wind beneath my wings as far as medical career is concerned. After graduating from UMDNJ a became a resident in his program in 1974. Towards the end of the year he called me end to see what my plans were. I said I was going to switch to Ob/Gyn and stay in Newark. He immediately said no that he felt I should reach higher and arranged for me to interview at Harvard, Yale, Hopkins Maryland...

Dr Rush guided me through a surgical residency program and a fellowship at UMDNJ much like a father would guide his son. I am eternally grateful for his leadership and counsel.

Dr Rush was a giant in the world of surgery and a true gentleman and role model. He will be missed

Dr. Rush was one of the nicest and most professional docs I had the pleasure to meet and work with while at the med school - he will always be remembered as a doctor who cared.

Dr. Rush was a truly special human being. He will always be UMDNJ's treasure.
