Send Flowers

Benjamin S. Bryan called his father from Iraq to tell him he was going to start sending things home. After four years in the military, he was to return home in January. "He was just making the decision to explore something else," said his aunt, Patricia Meraz. "He was just really starting his life as an adult." Bryan, 23, of Lumberton, N.C., died Nov. 13 in Fallujah. He was based at Camp Pendleton, Calif. "We were proud of him for being over there," said his aunt, Faye Britt. "None of us want our sons over there but all you can do is pray every day." Bryan joined ROTC in high school and signed up with the Marines in 2000 shortly after graduating. During his senior year, he wore a different Marine T-shirt to school every day, said Myrlene Kennedy, his former principal. "That''s all he talked about. He didn''t want anything to interfere." Bryan''s mother passed away when he was a teenager, leaving his father, Danny, to raise him alone. "We loved fishing and camping together," said the elder Bryan. "He loved to cook. I can remember how he cooked his favorite, spaghetti, from scratch."

Not sure what to say?

In memory of Lance Cpl. Benjamin Bryan. Never forgotten.

I just wanted you to know that you were being thought of on this Memorial Day. There are no words to thank you. My grandso was with the 3/1 Marines. He spent some time over there as well,
If I could have one wish on this Memorial Day it would be that every American would take just a minute or two and say a little prayer for our troops.

HEROES NEVER DIE. THEY LIVE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER.
I truly do believe this.
with love and respect

In Memory of Benjamin ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you...

I read of Benajamin's ultimate sacrifice in We Were One: Shoulder To Shoulder With The Mareines Who Took Fallujah[O'Donnell, 2006] While i did not know him, his story is an inspiration to me. His courage and selfless dedication to his brother Marines serve as example to us all. Please accept my respects and profound gratitude.
Thank you, Ben.

You are remembered and respected. Thank you Lance Cpl Bryan!
