Not sure what to say?

Dear June,

Many are the fond memories that began at Glendale in 1950 on my way to Africa. It was always so good to see you and Ben whenever we were home on furlough. The big Christmas fruitcakes that were sent to Africa are still not forgotten!
Ben was always so helpful and always with a smile. God bless you in these days. Thank you for your friendship, support and prayers. My prayers are with you.

Dear June, Judy, Bonnie and Jeanne,
I was saddened to hear of your husband/daddy's death, yet rejoicing in the fact that it was a home-going as Jesus welcomed him home. I have wonderful memories of Ben--always gracious and always a smile, so open and friendly and welcoming. I see his sweet face in my mind and heart and I'm thankful for his life and legacy. To be married 62 years is somewhat of a miracle in today's world. It's a testimony to the faithfulness, commitment and love he...

Dear June,

What wonderful memories we have of Ben, (especially Goldie). He certainly was a very caring person and so fun to be around. One memory that sticks in my mind is the time that he came to help me as a single person get my oil furnace started. It was the first winter that I had in my new home on Lou Drive South and I had no idea what to do!! (typical young girl) But as soon as I called on Ben that Sunday night after church, he came and got it going. That's just one...

Mr. Smith was one of the first people I met when we moved to Waterfront Terrace over 20 years ago. He had captured "something" and asked if I wanted it to make soup, since it was in my yard. I told him he was more than welcome to carry them home. He will be missed.

Uncle Ben will be missed by us all,but now Uncle Pepper and daddy have someone to fix the boatmotor. We are very luckie as kids to have the parents we had and the example our fathers set. Love you and you all are in our prayers at this time.

Uncle Ben was gentle Ben
whether he was working on his mothers(Aunt Pollie)house or tinkering on a mower. I think Nathan must have picked up that gene as he loves mower's and chainsaws. I also got the privilege to stand next to him many times in the choir. we are assured that he is now singing with some of our other members who went before him or he has a pole in the water or he's working on god's mower. all our love Jonathan and my Tex. and Fla. family .

To the Ben Smith family. It has been a very long time since I have seen you, but I want to express my love at the loss of your dear husband and father.
I remember how kind he was back when we worked at Glendale and while we were missionaries in France. If my memory is good he even took us out on his fishing boat and took my son, Joel, fishing. I know he will be greatly missed.
But what a comfort to know that "absent from the body, present with the Lord."
I'll be in...

I feel like I've met this wonderful man through stories Donna has shared with us. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. How blest you are to have been a part of his life for many years.
Respectfully,
Margie Johnson

I was a teenager @ Glendale from 1966-1970 and have fond memories of Mr. Smith. His warm loving smile always had a calming influence on me. He was always a model Christian to me and I know that Heaven is much better place because Mr. Smith is their!
