Ben and Bettie have been close friends of ours for many years. Bettie always referred to Ben as "Mr Lucky". He was lucky to meet Bettie and we were truly lucky to meet both of them. We have enjoyed many dinners and evening coffees with both of them. When we were with both of them, we would always have a chuckle at something one of us said and also feel the caring and love that Ben and Bettie had for one another. I'm really going to miss Ben. I've lived next door to him for 4 years now, and every day when I'm in my backyard, I have always made a point to smile and wave to Ben in his chair, even when I'm not able to see him through the glass.
Today as I was mowing, I felt he was still watching, but not from the window this time. So I sent my smile skyward instead.
