Bennie Mae Bowie, 75, of 109 Cole Street, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Booker T. Bowie and the late Mattie Gaskins Bowie. She was a member of Piney Grove A.M.E. Church in Callison. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry William Bowie, Curtis Bowie, Booker T. Bowie, Jr., Doug Christopher and Tom Christopher; and one sister, Prima Watts. She leaves to cherish her memories, one brother, Willie E. Bowie of Greenwood; five sisters, Emma Lee (Curtis) Robinson of Greenwood, Mattie Mae (Leroy) Richardson of Flushing, NY, Frances (William) Melbie of Washington, DC, Rosetta Moore of Philadelphia and Ernestine (Harvey) Jamieson of Detroit, Michigan; a special niece, Charlene Barr of Philadelphia; and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral Services are 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Piney Grove AME Church, conducted by Pastor Betty Ann Martin. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home. Online condolences may be sent to [email protected].
