GIPSON, Bennie - Of Flint, age 68, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association. Mr. Gipson was born in Kennett, Missouri on June 20, 1942, the son of James and Imogene (Walker) Gipson and was a resident of Flint most of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Judith Bradley on November 9, 1961. He loved playing Santa for years. Mr. Gipson was employed by General Motors Truck and Bus, retiring in 1991, after 27 years. Surviving are wife, Judith; two sons, Robert and Bradley and wife, Laura; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Nicole, Carol, Justin, Myles, Cassie, Cody, Abigail and Bradley; three sisters, Barbara and husband Harry Janiski, Inez and husband Danny Parker, Nancy and husband Roger Thornton; one brother, Joe and wife Angie Gipson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Imogene and brother, Gene. The family would like to thank their special friends at Sherman's Lounge.
