Not sure what to say?

Benson was a giant in our community and well beyond. He was also kind man and together with Barbara performed many mitzvot [good deeds]. In 1986 I moved to Montpelier from a rural Vermont village hardly knowing a soul in the "big city." Except I'd heard of Ben so I rather boldly contacted him. He and Barbara invited me to tea at their lovely home and they offered support in numerous ways to aid me in getting acclimated. One afternoon returning from work I found a hanging flower basket on...

Still keeping your memory in my heart, Ben. Doing so puts a smile on my face. I still make Sankta Lucia buns in your honor! You are remembered, fondly.

That hat, that bicycle and most of all Bens zest for life were all unforgettable.

It was such a pleasure to see him become Director of the Vermont ACLU after his "retirement". But the thing I most remember about Ben was that he was a lawyers lawyer. He was a brilliant man -- wholly committed to the rule of law and above all justice.

I was so sorry to learn about his passing.

So many wonderful things to say about Ben. I first met him contra-dancing over 20 years ago, and then you and your dear son. I so enjoyed the last time the 3 of us sat together resting in the shade on State St. Ben had many qualities and activities that will be missed, but most of all, I will miss his welcoming smile and sparkle when he spoke of you, dear Barbara. Peace in your heart. love.

Dear Barbara and family: So many memories of Ben through the years from 1974 until his passing. He was truly a great man, including the deep caring about you and the children, about about every thing and person he cared about. We looked up to him and will pay tribute to his memory. May his memory be for a blessing to all who knew him.

Barbara and Family,
Ben's memory shall always light the way and be a blessing.

Barbara and family, I am so sorry to learn of Ben's passing. He gave so much to Montpelier and the State of Vermont. His intense passion, intellect love of music and the arts were what helped to make him so special.Yes, Ben I will remember my sun screen and sum hat. Jane Walker Richmond

Ben, wearing his boater and cycling to the Supreme Court, will remain a valued Montpelier friend in my memory for many years to come.
