Bernadette Gomez

Sister Bernadette Gomez, 62, died suddenly in San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, September 13, 2005. She was born October 3, 1943 to Candido and Concepcion Gomez in Gregory, Texas. She was a nun for 48 yrs. with the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and taught for 16 years, serving as principal for one year at the Holy family Catholic School, Corpus Christi, Texas. She received a B.A. in education from Texas A&M, Kingsville, and M.A. in Theology from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio and an M.A. in School Administration from Our lady of the Lake in San Antonio, Texas.She was preceded in death by her father, Candido V. Gomez, Sr.She is survived by her mother, Concepcion L. Gomez and six sisters: Geronima (Bob) Weller, Lupe (Wilfredo) Lopez, Lucy Gomez, Olivia (Jesse) Ybarra, Elisa (Mike) Castillo, and Connie Gomez and six brothers: Candido (Mary) Gomez, Jr., Deacon Juan L. Gomez, Pable (Christina) Gomez, Jesse (Linda) Gomez, Joe Gomez and Willie (Liz) Gomez and 27 nephews and nieces. A Rosary will be on Thursday, September 15th at 7 p.m. in Angelus Funeral Home, 1119 N. St Mary St., San Antonio. Private services will be held Friday in the Blessed Sacrament Convent in San Antonio.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Henry's Church, 1619 South Flores St., San Antonio, Texas.
