Bernadine Beverley Catherine Patterson, age 61, of 6857 Lake Road, Prince George, VA was born December 10, 1960 to the late Noel Bertram Nathanielsz and Bernice Nathanielsz in Sri Lanka, South Asia. She departed this life on September 2, 2022.


Bernie, as she was affectionately known, received her education from the University of North London (United Kingdom). She attended Family Worship and Praise Center, Hopewell, VA and retired from the Hopewell Public School System.


Bernie was very talented, gifted and creative in everything she did. She was very family oriented and loved spending time and making memories with her loved ones.


Along with her parents, Bernie is now reunited with her son, Maxamillian Evouyea Patterson whom she loved dearly.


Left to cherish her loving memories are her children, Genevieve Nelson (Curtis), Rochelle Nelson (Herbert) and Jahmal Patterson; grandchildren, Mya, Jalen, Jerrell, Elijah, Zarnder and Dae’shon; sister, Jaqueline Carroll; brothers, Michael Nathanielsz, Brian Nathanielsz and Andrew Nathanielsz; sister-in-law, Rochelle Nathanielsz; nieces, Felishia Carroll and Michelle Carroll; nephews, Daniel Nathanielsz, Anton Belgrave, Johann Nathanielsz and Aarron Nathanielsz; friends who were like sisters, Eunice Hamiliton, Pushpa Silva and Sheri Hurd; devoted friends, Mattie Wilkins, Johnise Brown, Daisy Nelson, Shauna Clarke, June Thompson, Sylvia Johnson, Christine Bailey, Cheryl, Maria, Cynthia and Dorothy; and a host of cousins, other relatives and loving friends too numerous to name.


Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Thursday, September 15, 2022 in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Pastor David E. Hayes, eulogist.

My dearest friend Bernie I love you and miss you so much this has really hit me hard, I don't know how but i have to try to keep going . I know you have no more pain and you are with Max now . We shared some good times and talks we have known each other for twenty some years I will never forget you fly high my dear friend . Prayers for the children and other family members.

My heart is broken, taken so soon but will always live in my heart. I will never forget your laughter and our talks, you were always there for me, you always appreciated me, encouraging words, we can talk for hours and never felt the time pass by. This beautiful woman has always been part of my life, even though we're separated by a distance. Love you BBC, we will meet again x
