I'm sorry that I'm writing this so late. I only just read about Bernie's passing. My dad worked for Bernie from 1948 until his reitrement. He was Saul Alexander and was the manager of Economy Fabrics on Park Street in Hartford. After about 20 years on Park Street Bernie transferred dad to the executive offices. I remember Ruth Diamond who took dad under her wings in the early years and always cared about us. Bernie was more than a boss to my dad. We always felt that he truly cared for my dad in more than employer-employee way. I remember taking my mom's holiday cookies to you guys up on Ferncliff Drive and you kids were all so surprised to get such a loving and caring package. May Bernie rest in peace!
