Bernard Larue Anderson, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 11, 2025, leaving a void that can never be filled.
Bernard was born on January 18, 1954, in Houston, Texas, the second son born to Helen Anderson. He spent most of his childhood in Longview, TX. He received his formal education in the Dallas Independent School District.
Bernard met the love of his life, Cynthia Miller in Dallas, TX, and they married in 1981. With love, patience, and Jesus, their union lasted over 46 years. They were blessed with four loving children of whom he was overly protective!
Bernard was affectionately known as “Poops” “Patna” or “Party Narty”. He was selfless, kind and generous. He radiated joy, optimism, respect and unrestrained love for his family and friends. He had a heart of gold and was always just a phone call away, ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. In his eyes every situation, no matter how dire, had a silver lining.
His pastimes included barbequing, attending cookouts, traveling, spending time with his family and watching sports. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks.
Bernard was employed as a Machine Operator with Dallas Morning News for approximately 38 years. While there, he met acquaintances who became family. Bernard retired from Dallas Morning News in 2021.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Willie Anderson and sister, Barbara Anderson.
Bernard will always be remembered and loved by his devoted wife, Cynthia Anderson; four children, Antonio Miller, Shaun Miller, Shree Miller-Stanley (Natron) and Shavonne Anderson; along with five grandchildren, Shanya Stanley, Shanyla Stanley, Shalyssa Anderson, Travis Anderson and Tayvon Anderson.
Bernard’s memory will be forever cherished by his mother, Helen Anderson; sister, Darlene Anderson; and a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Although Bernard's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love, strength and compassion in all that we do.
Praying for strength and comfort for the entire family.
