Not sure what to say?

A great friend. I will always remember our Happy Hour meetings at Phoebes. Miss you Bernie!!!

Bernie was a great friend, and I miss him and think about him every day.

Bernie came to visit me when I was in the hospital for throat cancer in 2011, and he was very encouraging to me. I will always remember his kindness.

Dear Karen, Jill, Neil and Doug,
My deepest condolences! You are in my thoughts.

Dear Neil, Karen, Jill, Doug,

So sorry to hear of this news. Just saw your Dad recently at Menorah Park when my Mom was in rehab. Without a newspaper everyday, hard to know/keep track of these things. Sorry I could not be at the calling hours and
on behalf of myself and my Mom, wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family.

To Karen Jill Dougie and Neil,
Wishing you peace and strength in the days ahead. My childhood memories of the Axenfelds are about a family devoted to one another. Bernie created that. May he rest in peace.

JIll and family,
It was my distinct pleasure to have served Bernie as one of his physicians. There is an unspoken bond of allegiance between U.S. Marines and their Navy Corpsmen...after meeting Bernie several years ago, we each seemed to know who the other was within seconds. He was a man's man, a person to look up to and who inspired and emboldened the rest of us. I valued his friendship, and will never forget him. I hope I served him with the dignity and respect he deserved....
