Dear family and friends of the Honorable Bernard L. Coates Jr.:

He was a very nice friend and person. He treated everyone equally and had compassion for others. I worked for him by cleaning the Laywer's office that he had occupied before becoming Judge. I knew he would make a good Judge when he was picked. He listened to both sides and new both sides of the law. He was straight forwarded and honest with you about the situation.

Plus gave you advice when needed. I...

Dear family and friends of the Honorable Bernard L. Coates Jr.:
My thoughts and prayers remain with you. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
I have fond memories of "Bernie" as he visited my parents' home in the late 70's. He was polite and always kind. We had fun getting together with the "Pine Street"crowd. I would see him at PSU and at the polka picnics and we would reminisce about good times in Steelton, PA.
I'm saddened by this loss and pray for God's healing grace for...

My sincerest condolences to the Coates family. Clearly he made a difference in this world and that speaks volumes. I regret many things, but right now I regret a missed opportunity.

Bernie was such a nice guy, a really great person who will be missed by many! May God bless his family, especially his children during this time of loss.

Coates Family,

I believe that not every Man is call
to service, to stand in judgement of people
Such a person was Bernie, who had integrity
honor,compassion,and respect for others.
Thank you for the memories Judge!
A great Steeltonian, after all I married
one.
Respectfully,Retired MDJ 12-2-05

I was not able to make it to Bernie's service today but wanted to send my deepest sympathy to the entire Coates family. Bernie was the first attorney I met during my court reporting internship at Dauphin County Courthouse all those years ago. He turned my first day into one of laughter and calmness, and I will be forever grateful to him for that. His kind personality and contagious smile will never be forgotten.

Dear Cathy, Carol, Judy, Lisa, and all your family,
May God guide you all in this time of sorrow. I had a nice visit with Bernie last year at the tailgate for Jimmy Buffet concert, we reminesed about the Gap and Realized how many mutual friends we had.
