When I was asked to speak at my grandfather’s funeral, I was both very honored and also very nervous.

I kept trying to think about what to say , “Do I talk about all his accomplishments?”……There are many………. ”Do I tell a bunch of funny stories about him?”….... believe me, there is lots of material there!.......”Do I talk about his life story?.....it is a fascinating one.

Dad.....I have been trying to figure out how to say Good-Bye......But I am not finished saying Hell-o. I can not put into words what you mean me.
I can think of a million memories but I still want more...
I tell myself how lucky I am to have had you in my life for as long as I have but it still seems like something has been taken from me to soon.
The phrase Mom and Dad is still coming when I speak out loud and it probably always will.
So if it is ok with you since I am not ready...

Words of Remembrance From the Worship Service September 27, 2006

Grandpa knew and understood the Christian way of life. He set high moral standards for himself and very seldom judged others. He was a man of good character and integrity. He often quoted the 10 commandments, the golden rule and other passages and that is how he lived his life. Grandpa’s first job was to keep the fire lit in church on Sundays in a small town in Wisconsin.

Bernie will be greatly missed and always remembered. He was a masterful manager who ran Diamond Jim's with steel and velvet. He was always kind and respectful and set a great example for us all. No one was better than Bernie at "catching me off the swing"! Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Bernie gave me my first job - it was at Diamond Jim's. He got me started off in the workforce with all the correct teachings!! He was SO full of energy and excitement!! He had a smile for all! I will miss him!
