Bernie was such a dear friend to our family. He and my Dad were fencing buddies. He was crusty on the surface, soft and sweet inside. So sorry to see him go.

Under the gruff exterior was a heart of gold. He only let some past this to show he was a good friend. We knew Bernie through fencing and spent many hours at many tournaments with him. We will miss you our friend

Bernie was a great coach, armorer, friend, and supporter of fencing. He would go out of his way to do anything to help friends, students, literally gave freely of his time to anyone in need. He will be sorely missed.
