Not sure what to say?

I remember Mr. Gildenberg from the days at the Geophysics Laboratory at Holloman AFB, NM. I always called him Mr. Gildenberg, since I was much younger than him, although others called him "Duke." I never forgot him through the years, and I can almost hear him going through the long hallways in the large building. I always knew when he was in the hall because of a noise his shoes made. He was a humble and very accomplished man. Very sorry to hear of his passing.

Duke was a friend of our families for approximately 50 years. He was our neighbor for almost 20 years. He was an intelligent, humble man. In spite of his many remarkable accomplishments, he once remarked that you "Don't want call to much attention to yourself because it would take the limelight away from your buddies." He was loved and respected by many. He was thought of as an uncle in the McClarin family of La Luz.

Duke was a good friend we cared about. We met 15 years ago. He was lonely & loved to talk. He could talk about many topics & was interesting. We enjoyed having him come for Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthday dinners. I wish I had helped him more toward the end.
