GILES, Bernard Jr., of 7501 Seminary Ave., Richmond, committed to eternal rest October 11, 2008. Bernard was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Dr. B. S. Giles Sr.; mother, Patsy Giles; and older brother, Rev. Billy Giles. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Rev. Avanell B. Giles; six children, Shunda, Rashad, Brandy and Aaron Giles, Elder M. Bernard Curtis Jr. and Devin Curtis; seven grandchildren; a stepmother, Vernell Giles; one sister, Delzell Redd; one brother, Felix Giles Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Dr. Leroy M. Bray Jr. and Rev. Karl M. Bray (Regina); three sisters-in-law, Edith Giles, Audrey L. Puller, Rev. Palma S. Bray; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, one devoted, Eleanor Johnson. Remains rest at the F. E. Dabney Funeral Home, 600 B Street, Ashland, Va. Homegoing services will be held Thursday, October 16, 11 a.m., at the First Union Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va. Rev. Dexter Cannon, pastor. Rev. Dear Avanell and family,
My deepest sympathy to you all for your loss. As we all know, Bernard is in a far better place now, and Heaven now has one more angel. I pray that God will comfort you as you adjust to the changes that this loss brings. And I also encourage you to remember the gift of Bernard's presence in your life, as well as the presence of God.

I knew Bernard for a short time, I had the pleasure of working with him, he was a kind spoken man, always smiling and with a kind word to say, but he is in a better place now, "God called him to rest because he knew best, stay strong family, you will meet again.

May the Lord be with you and your family at this time. Bernard you will be miss. You were and will always be a wonderful person to me. There are people that come into your life for many reasons, but Bernard had a way of touching your heart. He will forever be missed, my friend, my buddy...He has finally earned his wings..Be blessed family
