I extend my sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Hietbrink. He was, indeed, a very special man. Bernie was my major advisor in the M.S. program in pharmacology at SDSU. He was a gifted academic, and a master teacher who became my mentor and a friend for over 50 years. He always taught me most by being who he was.

Deanne, your fellow 1969 Brookings, SD highschool sends my sympathy on the loss od your father. I unfortunately did not know him well, but, from his ibituary he lived a long, happy and fullfilling life. No matter how much time we have our parents, it is so hard losing them.
