Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry for your loss, Mr.Hovan was absolutely my favorite teacher the man never had a mean bone in his body it's very kind to everybody he used to come into where I used to work at the hardware store and every time I would see him I would yell hey Coach and believe it or not he knew my name even though I haven't been in high school since 1984 he still remembered who I was you'd be greatly missed he taught me how to shoot a bow and arrow very patient man. RIP COACH

I'm so sorry to learn about Mr. Hovan's passing-- my sincere condolences to the family. He was one of my absolutely favorite teachers (Driver's Ed. in 1968), and I also kept score for the JV Basketball team's games. He always made you feel welcomed and valued. So many nice memories of this wonderful man at Nordonia HS. Peace and prayers to his dear family and friends.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Hovan's passing--he was one of my absolute favorite high school teachers (Driver's Ed. in 1968). I have such nice memories of this wonderful man. A life well-lived!

My condolences to the family. Seeing Mr. Hovan’s smiling face after all of these decades brought back fond memories of high school and interactions with him for a number of years after that – he was always smiling and positive, a great person.

My condolences to Mrs. Hovan and the Hovan family. I have many fond memories of working with Bernie and George at his small business, Hovan's Hydrawash. He had a one-of-a-kind personality and ability to connect almost immediately with anyone he came in contact with. I admired his work ethic and drive to stay active in the community with his business even after retiring as a teacher and coach. Like so many others I am very thankful we were able to cross paths.

We are so saddened to learn of Bernie's passing. He always seemed so happy to see us with a hug and hand shake and always the warmest smile. He will be missed by so many as he touched many hearts. Our love and prayers go out to Jeanie and family you are in our prayers. Bob and Rita Durdak

To the Hovan Family,

You are in our thoughts and prayers in this time of sorrow.

Mr. Hovan had a positive impact on several generations of our family and friends. Whether it was through sports, class or lending an ear, his positive energy and outlook on life will live on in each and everyone of us.

May you look to God for strength and peace,

The Cefaratti Family

Bernie always had a smile on his face and was always there to help anyone in need. He had a tremendous influence on many in the Nordonia Hills community. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Keith Boedicker

Mr Hovan was my High School baseball coach, but he was more than a coach. He was a mentor, a friend and more like a second father to me during my high school years. I will miss him greatly
