I only knew Bernie since April of this year when I met with him and his wife about doing some carpentry and painting work at the family farm near my home in St. Albans where I've lived for 19-years. I frequently saw the St. Albans book written by his mother Lucie and after our conversation at the farm Bernie went into the house and got a copy of the book for me that I read and enjoyed. Our dear friend Fr. Colm O'Ryan will be saying a Mass for Bernie's soul and his family next week in Ireland. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Lizzy and your family at this very sad time. Know that you are enfolded in God's Hands at this time. We send our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Bernie was always so vibrant and full of life. We have so many fun memories of conversations we had with him and his lovely wife, Lizzy. A real gentleman, he had such a brilliant mind, a great sense of humor and the ability to discuss any topic with expertise and wit. He was a great guy and will be sorely missed. We were honored to have known Bernie. Cliff & Cecelia Waeschle

All of us at The National Shrine of Mary, Mother of the Church, Laurie, MO extend heartfelt condolences to Bernie's family and friends and much gratitude for the legal and corporate guidance provided to the Shrine.

He left the world a much better place. He taught us how to love nature, enjoy the wind and even shared the fruits of his labor - literally. His life's work and wisdom are already being passed on and the best we all can do is keep him in our hearts and share his years of wisdom with others. He will be with us always. We are so grateful for his work, warmth and friendship. We extend our sympathy to the entire Huger family.
