Obituary

JOLY, Bernard "Ben" Joseph Sr., 81, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Rhode Island, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Dale Uber. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan; five children, Fran Uber, Bernard J. Joly Jr. (Lynette), Teri Hendrick (Stuart), Charles J. Joly (Quita) and Robert K. Joly (Stacy); 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Julian (Reds) Joly of Rhode Island; three sisters, Terry Turcotte of Connecticut, Gilbert Carey and Jeanette Robert, both of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. Ben proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was retired from J.B. Eurell Company. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, where a celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.

Time has passed and I sit here and think everyday how much I miss my Pop-pop, he was a wonderful man. He has taught me so much. He had a great heart and a great personality. Jonathan (my son) says to me the other day " Mommy is old Pop-pop in heaven?" Of course I said yes. He replied with " I sure do miss him". He loved his Old Pop-Pop so much.
Pop-pop, I miss you and hope oneday I will get to reunite with you. I know you are watching down on all of us and will keep us all safe.

It was such a pleasure to have been a friend of yours and Mr. Jolys.
He was such a sweet, kind man always offering fish to my family. We will always remember the great meals with those fish. I am so sorry for your loss. Please call me if I can help you in anyway. We were so sad to receive the news on Ben's passing. Our hearts grieve for your family. Any time we saw Ben, he always made you feel like you were his best friend and I cannot remember a time he did not have a smile on his face. Our prayers are with the family. May God give each one of you strength to carry on.
