Not sure what to say?

Dr. Kiernan was a mentor for me as a history teacher. I owe him a great debt, which I will never be able to pay. There is no way I can forget the encouragment that he has given me over the years. I extend my deepest sympathy toward his family and loved ones.

Mrs. Kiernan and family,
We are so sorry for your loss. We will always remember his stories and kind words of praise he had for us. He will be missed. Love and prayers.

I had Dr. Kiernan over 40 years ago and I remember him well. He lectured without notes and later when I re-read my notes I discovered how sequential and informative his lectures were. I enjoyed his class. He seemed without bias in presenting opposing views allowing the students to see both sides of many topics. After the first day of class he knew each student's name without a checking the roll. In 34years in education as teacher and principal in McDowell County, Dr. Keirnan inspired me...

To The Kiernan Family:
"Dr. K" was a very special human being for whom I will always have the greatest respect and admiration. During my time in the Concord library the entire staff always looked forward to his visits and lively conversations. Celebrate his life and cherish all the memories. I will.

Condolences to the family of Dr. Kiernan. I was a student of his at Concord in the early 1960s. I also played tennis with him a number of times. He was a wonderful person and excellent professor.

Dear Pat
We are saddened by the news of your loss.We will miss seeing him and our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

Pat,

I am sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Those we love are never really lost to us--
we feel them in so many special ways--
through friends they always cared about
and dreams they left behind,
in beauty that they added to our days...
in words of wisdom we still carry with us
and memories that never will be gone...
Those we love
are never really lost to us--
for everywhere their special...

I played in chess tournaments with Dr. Kiernan. May your grieving be short lived as you remember the blessings and joys of sharing your lives together. Remember that God's comfort is far greater than any grief, pain or sadness we will experience.
