Not sure what to say?

I was very sad to learn of Mr. Monnes' passing.
He made my 3 years at Gresham (class of 1968) pass quickly.
He was always willing to listen, give advice or just be there.I last saw Mr. Monnes several years ago in Long Beach Washington. He still remembered my name! He made me feel special.

Bud Monnes was a man who left a mark on all of us. He will be missed.

From the class 1951 GUHS, Bud was
a great coach & educator. He adopt
ed our 1947 beginning. We tried to
make his jv basketb teams, but most
became"knuckleheads--judith priest".
We visited Bud at our 2006 reunion.
Our '51 best to all the family. We
pray & toast to Coach Bud & wife
Ellene in heaven.

Dave,
I was very sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. He was certainly a great guy. I was not able to attend the memorial service, but please know that my thoughts and prayers have been, and are, with you and your family.

Bud Monnes was certainly one of the kindest souls I've ever encountered. Though I only knew Bud in the twilight of his life, his demeanor still radiated an ethos of gracefulness in its fullest sense. Bud's life and legacy demands a recollection of an era that is foreign to my generation; one marked by dedication, responsibility and faith. Like my grandfather before me, Bud's impact on my life was significant and lasting - he was an exemplar for other students, athletes and friends too many...

Mr. Monnes was the most caring man. He always did the right thing for the students no matter how bad they were. I know from exprience.
Thank-You for giving me a chance.

Bud Monnes stands at the center of most of my memories of high school. He not only was a tremendous man but a great coach. He had a knack of being able to motivate, inspire, understand and discipline you when needed. He was like a father giving you tough love. He will always hold a very special place in my heart. That heart is very heavy today because I am unable to attend his memorial. My thoughts and prayers go out to Randy, Janet, Dave and Laurie and their families. It is a very sad...

"Bud" Monnes and I go back to 1951 when I started teaching at GUHS. He asked me to be Varsity Baseball Coach when he became Dean of Boys. Our greatest moment together was in 1954 when we sat at a cafeteria table and wateched Willie Mays make that sensational catch in the World Series. We both jumped up and turned over the table!

As Dean of Boys he was amazed that in my 15 years of teaching I never once sent a student to his office. He also helped my wife Kathy when she was a counselor...

Thanks for everything. From the class of 1954. Thank You
