So sorry to hear about the death of "Bing" Newcomb. I also attended Scio High School and Bing rode my school bus. Always enjoyed watching out for him (as the bus patrol) and never realized what a genius he was until year later. He came from a lovely family, always respected in the community. Scio High School will always be grateful (as will the community) for his funding of the sports fields and stadium, a giant improvement for a small town and community. May he RIP.

Bing and I were fraternity brothers at Oregon State University back in the 1960´s. Bing was a bright, funny, and generous friend to me. I have always remembered some of his "funny " lines about himself such as "do you know any girls who would like to have a blind date " referring to his own visual impairment. Rest in peace, my brother. Larry McDaniel OSU class of 1966

I'm from Scio, and I remember Bernie Newcomb. I put the newspaper article on the bulletin board where I worked that was written at the time of his building a stadium and track and football field at Scio. He was a genius and a good person. Mary J. Brock (raised in Scio, Oregon)
