With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bernard Michael Reta, who entered eternal rest on February 13, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on August 19, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, Bernard was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, proud great-grandfather and friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his father, George T. Reta, and his brother, Chris Reta.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 49 years, Rachel Reta; his loving children, Michael Reta and wife Julia, Elizabeth Yanez and husband Jose, and Steven Reta and girlfriend Stephanie Urias; his beloved mother, Petra Reta; his siblings, David Reta and wife Yolanda, Ida Reta, and Susan Molina; his adored grandchildren, Joe Yanez and wife Kirsten, Brandon Yanez, Mallory Reta, Julian Reta and wife Leandra, Andrew Yanez, Maribella Reta, and Cristina Yanez; and his precious great-grandchildren, Vincent Yanez, Melina Reta, and Mateo Yanez. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Bernard was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity. He was deeply devoted to his family, always putting others before himself and extending a helping hand to anyone in need—even strangers. He was an artist at heart, finding joy in painting and expressing his creativity through his work. He had a passion for muscle cars and a love for classic Western films, which he enjoyed sharing with his loved ones. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by a prayer service at 11:30 AM. We invite family and friends to wear burgundy, the color representing awareness for multiple myeloma. This would mean so much to the family as we celebrate his life and the warmth, he brought to everyone around him.
The interment will be a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bernard’s honor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, continuing his legacy of care and compassion.
Though Bernard is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and kindness will remain an everlasting presence in our lives.
