Dear Family,

Uncle Bernie held a special place in my heart. He was always there through our rough times and our happy times.

When I was very young, I used to chase his car in the street. Or I would stand in the road and wait for his car to come from Aunt Agg's house. This is when he would give me a piece of Wrigley gum. Otherwise, I would insist on him giving me one. I'll never forget those days when I was young!

I knew Bernard only for the last few years, but in even such a brief time span, realized what a caring, generous and loving man he was. He loved his family dearly and was a pillar of stength and respectability. He helped others when in need, a very charitable man. He will be sorely missed.
