Caro Bernardo,
Sono sempre stato così felice di visitare te ed Evelina ogni volta che venivi in California, e vorrei che potesse essere più spesso di una volta all'anno. Ho sempre apprezzato le tue idee su buoni ristoranti, matematica, arte e linguaggio, e mi mancherà molto. Chiunque abbia 70 anni e studia una lingua straniera è davvero un giovane uomo, e sono stato così sorpreso di sentirti parlare in italiano! Vorrei che avessimo potuto visitare più di recente, ma chiunque ti conoscesse...

Bernie was a man's mensch. Both he and Evelyn were a bonus to the times I visited Stephen and Judy. They were always gracious and inquisitive and treated this then young adult as someone with valid opinions and knowledge. Glad I got to see them somewhat recently when in Boston.

I got to know Bernie and Evelyn as a frequent visitor to The Falls to spend time with my mother. I always took her dog along, and Bernie would light up whenever he got to hold and pet her. I always loved his competitive Crossword and Bingo playing, his sunny disposition, and his concern for Evelyn. My deepest sympathies for your losses.
