I knew Bernie from the workers comp world, from 1983 to 2013. He was acknowledged as the dean of the Longshore and Harbor Workers practitioners during that time. When you had a case opposing Bernie, you could count on it being waged by the rules, but also, that Bernie probably knew the rules better than you did.
